Thread: If you do not like drinking then shut the hell up.

  1. #1

If you do not like drinking then shut the hell up.

I figure these forums are a good place to put this. Since the kind of people I'm talking about seem to frequent these forums.

Ever been out with your friends? Maybe at a restaurant, a bar, or some place that servers alcohol? You ever bring that one person with you who just has to comment on everyone's drinking? I hate these people. I hate them a ridiculous amount.

What I hate the most about these people is they think they are somehow superior because they never drink. Like not doing something you have never done is hard. Ive never done heroin in my life. Tomorrow I'm going down to the rehab center to impose my superiority over others who are addicted to this drug. Perhaps that's a bad analogy as I don't consider myself addicted to alcohol or any of my friends. However we do like to drink.

I don't understand the hate sometimes. Yes yes there are many who abuse alcohol or are just bad drunks. However unless you frequent bars, you people who hate these people, never meet these people. As they are not your friends and hang out in different locations than you. So what the fuck are you complaining about?

Before you respond to this don't use the excuse some people have members of there family that are alcoholic's. Or that old chestnut that I don't know how alcohol has affected their life. Even if you have had alcohol abuse affect your life it is Completely UNFAIR to hate on people for things others have done. If you have some horrible experience which makes you cringe when you even see a beer. Then stay away from it! Its not hard.

I have made a few posts about alcohol here. I don't know why but I feel like I'm talking to the people who hate alcohol when I post here. I', just really curious.

I don't really bother about alcoholic drink...as long as my friends/family DON'T abuse it. Personally, I don't want to touch it at all, but I won't bitch about it all the time. If I do want to rant about it, I will make sure my friends doesn't mind it or having the same mindset as mine. Well, it is not like ranting about the issue will make it better anyway.

Smokers are worse. Some of them are simple irritating when they INSIST to smoke IN FRONT of you, but otherwise, I don't care.

i have been out with people just like this. but I try not to let them get to me. Think of it this way less for them, more for you!! it just really depends on the person. I know I've got a friend who has no alcohol tolerance, one glass of champagne and she feels sick. but she also offers to buy me beer when we go out.

some smokers can be jerks. i don't mind if you smoke in front of me, but the least they could do is stand down wind and not blow it in my direction

How dare they. They should walk 7 blocks away from you so you're day isn't ruined by the mean mean smokers.

Give me a break. Again this is why they have smoking sections and if you are outside with a smoker, cry me a river. You are outside.

Smokers are already pretty sectioned off. Anyone under 30 who bitches about being exposed to smoke should be shoved into a time machine and made to live in a time when you could smoke everywhere. You know why they have no-smoking lamps inside planes?

Because you used to be able to smoke in them.

The worst you're going to have to deal with today is having to walk by someone who might be smoking. This happens less often than walking by someone who is ugly. Or smells bad. The latter two bother me way more.

On topic: drinking is fun. Getting drunk is fun. All things in moderation. yada yada. I pretty much agree on all counts here.

Hawez, you're a son of bitch. and I hate you.

I'll have you know that my father died recently in a tragic brewing accident. he fell into a vat of Bacardi 151 where he was boiled alive and pressurized to death to make your precious booze! well, actually, he survived, and walked away, then fell down a flight of stairs... but it never would have happened if it weren't for people drinking!

I hold all you drinkers out there personally responsible! No one. No one should be able to drink! Ever!

Sadly, in my place many restaurants in the old streets DON'T HAVE these so-called, "smoker section" or "non-smoker section". So if the people on the other table smoke, we can't chase them away. We usually move to another table...but if there isn't any other table available for us, too bad.

Yeah, bear in mind not all the places have sectioned out the smokers.

...and for something unrelated to the original topic, the smoking packages here are printed with some ugly, spoilt organ(due to smoking) picture to discourage people from smoking. I wonder if this happened in other places?

I'm glad my family don't drink alcohol. My older people here are quite conscious about health =P My dad used to smoke and drink when he was a lot younger, but my mom didn't allow my dad to either smoke or drink anymore, especially smoking mainly due to health matters. He stopped and never touched them again(Maybe a bit of wine occasionally). I'm damn proud of him.

    BH...... wth?

I guess to be fair, I'm working with American standards. I don't know other country's laws on public / private smoking.

American laws are fucking crazy on it though (depending on the area, obviously). One of my friends in Texas, his city prohibits anyone from smoking within 25 feet of a building. Any building. Including residences.

    Including your own residence.

Granted, this isn't enforced hardcore or anything, but it's still nuts.

US and Canada are pretty much the same when it comes to smoking laws. There are a few states that have no smoking laws. However unless your dining in a truckers lounge in the middle of no where even restaurants that don't have to follow any rules will still have a smoking and non smoking section. Most anyway because sitting everyone together, especially now a days, you are going to get complaints.

I just spent the last year living in Japan so perhaps Ive just got used to smoking. Everyone smokes in Japan. If you go to Mcdonalds there a whole nice area to sit thats a smoking section and 1 or 2 shitty tables somewhere that are non smoking. Although it did just become illegal to smoke in train stations so they are well on there way to becoming like us.

Bullshit? Really? I smell your sketchiness instead.

Before you say I'm lying, do a couple of homework regarding to geography, because not all people are living at your place.

Malaysia, do you even know where is it? If you don't, google it. It is somewhere in South East Asia, and it is far, far away from America. Even if you know, you won't probably understand because you are not living in the old town or even being to the old streets here. I have been living here for nearly 19 years and I don't see any reason why I should lie about such trivial and probably shameful matter.

When I said restaurants in the old street, they are not like your typical chain restaurant(or whatever it is suppose to be called) like McDonald or Friday, they are local restaurants operated by local people. In these area, the smoking law is not THAT enforced. Maybe encouraged, but not strongly enforced. I don't even know why.

Yes, not all of us are living in a highly-developed country like you people, and we are not that civilised, and we don't have to follow every crap in American standard.

    Cheers.

Yeah not everyone lives in America. Thanks for pointing that out. I don't live in the US either but thanks for the general statement.

I did assume you were American but this forum is frequented by mostly Americans and European people.

Perhaps I should post on a Malaysian forum and freak out on some people when they assume I'm from their country. How dare someone make that connection.

It is not the first time someone mistaken me for living in US or somewhere in Europe =/ I don't even put my country's name in my profile anyway =P

Well...if you manage to venture into a real Malaysian forum, you probably won't able to understand what the crap they are talking about. We are famous in mixing up Malay, English, and even Chinese dialect to form our very own "rojak" languge. Same goes to Singapore, but they are more into Hokkien if I'm not mistaken. So you can't really fake it.
