Roy Khan has officially left Kamelot

Announced earlier today, Roy Khan, the lead singer of Kamelot has decided to leave the band after an extended leave due to a burnout. I am sad, but I figure it was because of his family and I wish him luck. I get sad at all these people saying they aren't going to support the band anymore because he is gone. I'll see what they have in store. Thomas, Sean, Casey, and Oliver are all still very talented.

I'm very grateful I had the opportunity to see him live with the band in concert.

It was to be expected...I'm actually pretty excited about how the new singer's voice might affect Kamelot's music though. Best of luck for Roy and Kamelot!

I know without it... it kinda won't feel the same.

Roy was undeniably an important part of the band, but Kamelot remains Thomas Youngblood's band. He's the main songwriter after all...I'm gonna miss Roy's lyrics though. I'm sure the replacement will be great, and not a Khan-wanna be.

I only recently became a Kamelot fan, after seeing the video for "The Great Pandemonium". I'm disappointed to hear this; but after reading he fell ill shortly after filming that video (I never read anything about what it was...) I don't suppose I should be very surprised. It's going to be very difficult to replace him...

I'm sure with his voice he'll be back in another band before too long. Unfortunately that probably won't be satisfactory due to the fact he has been in Kamelot since... err...I forgot what Wikipedia said (I studied their histroy after getting Ghost Opera and Poetry for the Poisoned for Christmas.)

Vocals and Guitarists are extremely hard to replace. Sometimes you can get by with the guitarist provided he was a rhythm player; but Lead guitarist (if they're worth a damn and not boring widdlers, who seem to think shredding at 15-18nps is totally cool v_v) can be impossible. In Roy's case he was the man and as far as I know his voice was totally unique, unlike the dude from Dragonforce who sounds like a chick and is as cliche power metal as can be. >_>

...Of course my sour view of Dragonforce is just my opinion. I want to make that clear, because I've gotten into way, way too many flame wars over saying things like that on music forums, specifically metal forums! Lol!

I don't know. Roy chose to leave the band and no one really knows why. He may not even want to join another. I imagine he has too many obligations as a parent now.

Perhaps not... if that be the case it might be for the best. I am a firm believer in the saying "It is better to burn quickly and brightly, than slowly and dull." Or something to that effect.

It's a shame he left, his vocals were amazing. But I'm sure Kamelot will find another excellent vocalist.
