Beware of the port, there seems to be differences in the ds version, it is modified in music and design, also dialogues.

Well I guess it can be slow to get into, depending on who you are. I was that way with FF VI.

Modified in music and design? I don't know what you mean by that. The music seems the same, except they managed to put in the previously unused track "Singing Mountain" for one of the secret dungeons. By design, I guess you're referring to the change in the interface? There's an option to change it back to the SNES interface.

But yeah, the the translation is different. It's probably more accurate now, but loses some of its charm.

Also they included the animated cutscenes from the PSX port, but if for some reason you don't want them they can be turned off.

That wouldn't really be such a bad thing either. I mean, if you've already played the original (ROM or otherwise, Arrr) then you pretty much know what was said to begin with.

    ...I'm with Tigrdrgn.

I just ordered it not long ago for the DS! Ha, ought to be here by the first of the month

Oh, I think the new translation is fine actually. Just pointing out the difference.

Ah, ok. I can't wait to check it out... I just hope once it gets here that momma'll let me play and won't hog it like she did my elder brother with Dragon Warrior I - III on the NES... Lufia 1 on the SNES... FF VI... The list goes on. Lol

Well I got it the day before yesterday

    ยป Spoilers Show/Hide
I don't like how the new translation ended up giving Frog a normal speech pattern... I loved Frog in the original because he talked medeival! But that's fine because there are so many extras that are so cool XD like the art gallery and the movies!

How are the load times in the DS version? The PS version had such awful load times, I couldn't stand it.

(and don't forget Super Mario RPG, y'all )

No real load times for Chrono Trigger on the DS other than maybe for video sequences actually

Super Marip RPG... I loved that game, I still do. +10 cool points for mentioning it!

The DS uses cartridges, so other than the initial boot and maybe wireless related stuff, there's no load time that's longer than the snes version.

    Let's kick some shell!

Not sure which one of us you're talking to, but your welcome either way

I'm really digging Chrono Trigger DS, all the bonus features are great!

still love it but my overall fondness of the game has diminished
it may be the prettiest 16-bit RPG but for some reason it did not age well
I own every iteration of CT (SNES, DS, PSone, VC) and the SNES version looks the best (technically VC should be identical)
after playing/comparing it other games of the same time CT looks more pixely than say FFVI even though CT overall is graphically better (same system across multiple platforms)
can someone confirm in the DS version they took out the SNES intro? the one where u see different era's of time with the credits rolling, eventually ending with the epoch, I know the PSone version had it (I remember the screwed up sound effects)

If I remember the intro to the game is a video I can't remember though.
