Legend of Mana | What do you guys think of it?

So, what do you guys think of this game? I'm thinking about playing it but I need some opinions first. I did play Seiken Densetsu III for a while. But I never got to finish it (that Darkshine Knight is hard).

Eh, it was okay. There was a lot of features I didn't like or needed improvement, but it was still good overall. On the other hand, I don't think it will ever live up to Secret of Mana for the SuperNES (or SoM 2 for the emulator).

I really liked the game, but I wouldn't call it "Best of the Best" or anything like that... O_o

"Okay"

The game isn't bad, but it is worser than the other Secret of Mana games. Actually, I've been a Secret of Mana fan for a long time. And I really enjoyed Seiken Densetsu I, Secret of Mana I(Seiken Densetsu II) and Secret of Mana II(Seiken Densetsu III), but Legend of Mana is different.

Legend of Mana wasn't focused on the battle system, but more on creating a certain atmosphere. They made a good atmosphere in the game, but that was the only good thing about it. The battle system was too repetitive. Also, the world map was a complete failure, I wanted to travel with cannons, see Flammie etcetera. The graphics were acceptable, but also the graphics changed a bit, in a negative way in my opinion. I've played the game for a few hours, the game wasn't interesting enough to play on.

For a stand-alone game it would be acceptable, but the game is bad compared with the earlier games. A game should improve, but Legend of Mana is deffintly worser than all the other Secret of Mana games.

Never played it. Sorry. I've only played Tales of Symphonia. My first game system was SNES, but it broke after 2 months of playing. I got it about 1 year after it came out. My next was N64 about 2 months after it came out. Then GCube about 2 years after it came out. Sorry.

I liked it, actually. There really isn't a plot to this game per se, but then again, the SD games were never about plot, but gameplay. The game is a heck of a lot of fun to play, but it lacks challenge. Antaeus is right, there is a certain atmosphere to it in that you get to create your own world, whichever way you want.

The game's a lot more complicated than it first appears, especially if you delve into the metallurgy, the pet-raising, and Golem creation aspect. Even the world map has its deeper levels. Also, the game is connected together by a series of quests, and you may miss some of them because a few have to be done in a certain order.

There's a lot of replay value, though, and if it wasn't challenging enough for you the first time, you can access a nightmare and a no future mode. Also, completing the cactus' diary, all the events, and crafting the ultimate weapon is a challenge only the most meticulous gamer can accomplish.
