Hm... I think it's supposed to be BoF-inspired, yet different from the generic BoF game (like a fanfic, you know?). For example, you see Ryuna have blue hair, it's just Ryu in a female form (actually, I think it's FFX inspired...).

Her powers are similar to that in BoF4's Ryu, where Dragons can have avatars alongside their original Dragon forms. Here, however, Ryuna is a summoner who summons Dragons, sorta like Ryu in BoF4 when he "summons" his Dragon form.

Not only that, the game's turn-based as well, just like in BoF1.

But of course, the features that define a BoF game are not entirely shown in this game, such as Ryu is no longer the swordsman in the game (you get Aele/ale?! instead), so there's no more Ryu+Nina relationship. And there seems to be no other races around either...

...you know, actually I don't feel drawn to this game at all. T_T

And, for the love of god, no more experimental battle systems.
Y'know there are plenty of games you can get that all use the same battle system. How about buying one of them instead of asking for another modern variation of Dungeons and Dragons

'Cause I actually enjoyed playing BoF as an RPG instead of something it isn't? And the thing is, even when BoF was a traditional RPG, it still was unique from other series like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.

I miss the old Dragon Gene system they had in BoFIII, which, in my opinion, was part of the core of the battle systems in BoF I, II, and III, yet was uncharacteristically absent in IV and non existant in V. I miss the expansive overworld maps and the wide cast of characters. I'd rather they expand on what made the series unique and interesting, rather than taking a gamble by completely overhauling the mechanics to the point where you can't even recognize that it's a BoF game, which is why I wasn't partial to V at all.

Since BoFIV, I've felt that the series has been slowly moving away from it's roots and it would be nice for Capcom to take a step back and give the fans a game reminiscent of the older Breath of Fire games instead of something entirely different.

And no need to get touchy. I was just offering my opinion.

They already have made three games revolving around the same game system. It's not like they permanantly went away from it. My god, people.

All I'm saying is that the most recent games, IV and V, didn't have the same systems and V deviated the most away BoF, not just in the battle system, but in ambiance as well. They were still good games and I'm not against change, but I'd like the next game to have more in common with the first 4 games than it would with V.

As did I, and the battle system in Dragon Quarter. I thought it was very fun and innovative to be able to combo like that. I mean, even by BoFIII, I thought that the battle mechanics were already belabored and tired. As some of the others have pointed out, there are enough rpgs with similar, old-fashioned battle systems to get your fix with. BoF doesn't have to be one of them.

The battle system in V was great. It's very reminiscent of a tactical RPG. You really had to think about where to move and what attacks to use, given your limited AP.

Everyone talks about "deviating" from BoF traditions. I prefer to think of it as evolution. I hope that BoFVI will also have some innovations and maybe keep some of the aspects of V as well.

^ I'm curious too. o_o

I agree with those... uh, BoF5-supporting points above. I'm among the group who likes BoF5: DQ and find it innovative and refreshing from the usual BoF games.

It'll be nice to see a combination of its battle system and BoF3's gene system (I can imagine the mighty Behemoth taking up most of the map space though... xD), though I'd like the SOL system and D-Ratio and stuff to be gone and revert back to the earlier BoF style. O_o

And I think someone mentioned before (can't remember who... sorry!) that it'd be interesting if BoF6 takes place in a sky town or something. I'm looking forward to that, too. xP

I hope that, if BoF VI comes out, they will not try to make something "new" again.
I think the game graphic will be kinda weird again.
I guess they would try to make something that is 3D and 2D again... but please, no cell-shading or how it's called, it's awful.

Somehow I'd like to see a game that is related to I-IV but I also would like to see something different, so that the original BoF story is not "destroyed"...

I guess I'll just wait...! ^^

As long as it has somethign to do with Ryu, Nina, and some dragons then I guess I'll be okay, because... I mean.. those are the reoccuring aspects of BOF. Well, there are more underlying repeating themes that have nothing to do with storyline, but I'm not gonig to explain them because I feel too geeky as it is.

All I'm really wishing for in part 6 is a full dragon transformation that doesn't spell game over.
Oh and the battle system from 5 be kept, or something similar used, because that was a cool change of pace.
