How to make a tier list
- Add your items. Type names in the box and press Enter (separate several with commas), or add images from your device. You can also paste an image or drop files onto the pool.
- Drag them into tiers. S is the best, F the worst. On a phone, press and drag with your finger. On a keyboard, focus an item and press 1 to 9 to send it to a tier.
- Make it yours. Click a tier name to rename it, click the colour dot to change its colour, and add, move or delete tiers. Give your list a title at the top.
- Save or share. “Save image” downloads a PNG for Discord, Reddit or a group chat. “Copy link” makes a link that opens your list for anyone.
What is a tier list?
A tier list ranks things in groups instead of one long order. Rather than arguing whether something is number 4 or number 5, you decide whether it belongs with the very best (S tier), the great (A), the good (B), the average (C), the weak (D) or the ones you would rather forget (F). Tier lists started in fighting game communities, where players ranked characters by strength, and are now used for everything from games and films to snacks and Pokémon.
The letters come from school grades, with an S on top: in Japanese grading and many games, an S rank (often said to stand for “special” or “superior”) beats an A. That is why so many lists go S, A, B, C, D, F.
